Parker Cohn runner-up at NSSA championships
Parker Cohn, a 17-year-old from Newport Beach, finished runner-up in the open men’s division, the premiere division of the National Scholastic Surfing Assn. Championships at Huntington Beach Pier on Monday.
Cohn, who was recently featured in the Daily Pilot, entered as the top seed and the NSSA Western Regional runner-up. He won the NSSA Western Regional juniors division championship.
Barron Mamiya of Waialua, Hawaii won the national title. He scored 18.50 in the finals. Cohn scored 14.55 points.
Cohn, signed by RVCA, has been surfing competitively for just five years. He attended Sage Hill School for one year. He is now a home-school student for Halstrom Academy.
