Sailors finish third
The Newport Harbor High girls’ volleyball team finished third at the Ann Kang Invitational, completed Saturday at Iolani School.
Coach Dan Glenn’s Sailors were paced by all-tournament honorees Maddy Brown and Cinnamon Sary, who helped the reigning CIF Southern Section Division I-AA and CIF State Division I champions defeat Sunset League rival Los Alamitos in the third-place match.
The Tars were defeated by a team from Taiwan in the semifinals. Taiwan went on to defeat Mira Costa in the championship match.
Newport Harbor defeated Taiwan in a best-of-three match in pool play Friday.
