College Roundup: Anteaters shut out Loyola
IRVINE — Senior defender Corey Attaway scored in the 50th minute to lead the No. 20-ranked UC Irvine men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Loyola (Chicago) in the UC Irvine College Classic Saturday night.
Miguel Ibarra crossed the ball into the box where it was headed in by Attaway for the goal.
Goalie Andrew Fontein went without a save, as he picked up the shutout for UCI (2-0).

IRVINE — Host UC Irvine earned a pair of victories Saturday, trouncing Fresno Pacific, 26-3, and edging Cal Baptist, 10-9.
Senior Doug Lindsay scored a team-high five goals against Fresno Pacific, against which senior Brandon Johnson and freshman Mitch Wise had four apiece.
Derrik Jarvis added three goals for UCI, which had 11 different players score.
Sophomore Nick Pfeil scored with 32 seconds left for the winning margin against Cal Baptist. Senior Kyle Baxter had erased a 9-8 Cal Baptist lead with 3:40 left by scoring one of his team-high three goals.
Senior Matt Johnson had six saves against Cal Baptist and 11 against Fresno Pacific.

Vanguard 1, Cal State Dominguez Hills 1
CARSON — Kevin Cornwall scored in the 33rd minute for the Lions in the nonconference game Saturday.
But the No. 6-ranked Toros tied it in the 86th minute. Trevor Herrera had three saves for Vanguard (1-0-1).

The Lions (1-1-1) suffered their first loss of the season. Chelsea Lesniak had four saves for Vanguard, which outshot Cal State Dominguez Hills, 16-10.
