Surf contest produces 10 champions
Ten champions were crowned Sept. 19 when the 40th annual Huntington Beach Surf Contest concluded at the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier.
The two-day event drew 172 competitors from the Huntington Beach area who vied for prizes in 10 divisions. In addition, Shayne Nelson won the Super Heat competition.
The event was run by the City of Huntington Beach Community Services Dept. Aaron Pai of Huntington Surf & Sport donated prizes and T-shirts and Java Point, Sugar Shack, Duke’s and Sandy’s restaurants also supported the event.
Super Heat Winner: Shayne Nelson
