MISSION VIEJO — Corona del Mar missed a spot in the final after finishing one point behind Santa Margarita due to goal differential in its pool Wednesday at Mission Viejo High.
The Sea Kings ended with a 5-0 win over Pacifica. Conor Roche, Nick Curci, Mason Case, Brandon Hoover and Clayton Reinhardt scored a goal each. Roche, Case, Miguel Degaldo, Austin Pollard and Hunter Kilburn had the assists.
Goalie Marcell Masinelli had three saves.
CdM beat Dana Hills, 2-1, Tuesday. Brian Ford and Jack Gorab scored a goal each, while Curci and Case delivered an assist each.
Goalie Connor Gaal had four saves.
The Sea Kings tied Santa Margarita, 1-1, Monday.
Case scored on an assist from Kjell Wolker. Gaal had four saves.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Westchester 63, Corona del Mar 55
SAN DIEGO — Danny Cheek had 23 points, including five three-pointers in the fifth-place semifinal of the Holiday Classic at Torrey Pines High Wednesday.
Marcus Bradley scored 15 points, 13 in the second half and Clayton Ragsdale had nine points on three three-pointers for CdM (8-5), which will play for seventh place today at noon.
The Sea Kings trailed by five with a minute left and had possession. But they committed a turnover and Westchester held off CdM for the win, Coach Ryan Schachter said.
Costa Mesa 78, Cornerstone Christian 37
TEMECULA — Junior Saaeed El Assadi had 15 points to lead the Mustangs in a consolation game of the Linfield Christian Tournament Wednesday.
Seniors Andrew Albers and Matt Dimson scored 14 points each for Costa Mesa (5-8). Albers grabbed 10 rebounds.
Estancia 44, Whitney 30
COSTA MESA — Senior Davon Joyner had 26 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Eagles in the 13th-place semifinal of the Estancia Coast Classic Wednesday.
Junior Rashad Davis added 10 points and nine rebounds for Estancia (6-8).
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Corona del Mar 51, Segerstrom 48
GARDEN GROVE — Senior Kayla Marolt had 16 points to pace the Sea Kings in the fifth-place semifinal of the Garden Grove Tournament on Wednesday at Garden Grove High.
Senior Ellie Nadal had seven points and made three steals in the final three minutes to help secure the win for CdM (9-5), which plays for fifth place today.
Fountain Valley 43, Newport Harbor 36
COSTA MESA — Lexi Kunkle scored nine points to lead the Sailors in a consolation semifinal game of the Costa Mesa Tournament Wednesday.
Kasey Thompson scored 16 points, while Mimi Gibson had eight points and three steals for Newport Harbor (7-6). Alex Morton contributed 15 rebounds, 10 assists and two points for the Sailors, who will face El Modena today at noon in a consolation game at Costa Mesa High.
Avalon Tournament
AVALON — Sage Hill’s Zoe Kreitenberg posted impressive statistics, including a triple-double, in two losses in the Avalon Tournament Wednesday.
Kreitenberg had 15 blocked shots, 10 rebounds and six points in the Lightning’s 42-32 loss to Godinez in pool play.
She then had a triple-double with a career-high 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocked shots in Sage Hill’s 52-45 loss to Archer of Los Angeles. Ava Soleimany scored a career-high 25 points against Archer.
The Lightning (5-4) will play against Malibu today in the third-place game.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Edison 3, Newport Harbor 2
SAN CLEMENTE — The Sailors (1-8-3) were eliminated from the Excalibur Tournament at San Clemente High Wednesday.
Megan Khademi scored on a penalty kick in the first half and Josie Jogwe evened the score in the second half before Edison scored the game-winner with 10 minutes remaining.
