WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Orange Coast 65, Irvine Valley 59 (OT)

IRVINE — Samantha Hansen finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, helping the Pirates to an Orange Empire Conference come-from-behind win in overtime Wednesday.

Sami Little, who finished with 12 points, forced overtime for OCC (20-6, 7-1 in conference).

She made a three-pointer with 15 seconds left in regulation and tied the game at 53-53.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Irvine Valley 82, Orange Coast 55

IRVINE — Matt Sawdon posted 18 points and six rebounds for the Pirates in Wednesday’s Orange Empire Conference loss.

Will Ligon added 12 points for OCC (5-18, 1-7 in conference).

Travis Fulton led IVC (20-4, 7-1) with a game-high 20 points.

Doubleheader

COSTA MESA — The Vanguard University softball team split its nonconference games Wednesday, shutting out William Jessup, 2-0, before falling in the nightcap in 11 innings, 4-2.

Pitchers Patricia Olvera and Stacie Salazar combined on a three-hit shutout in the first game for Vanguard (1-2), striking out eight.

Catcher Angela St. Croix was two for three with a run batted in and designated player Amanda Young was two for two with a run scored.

Second baseman Ariana Atwater had two of the Lions’ three hits in the second game.

Katharine Jablonski allowed just three hits and an unearned run in 10 innings pitched, but William Jessup scored three runs in the 11th inning.
