High School Roundup: CdM tops Beverly Hills

BEVERLY HILLS — Senior Shane Korber won 18 of 19 games for CdM at No. 1 singles in the Sea Kings’ nonleague season opener.

Senior Carter Wheatley and junior Alex Murray swept in doubles while sophomore Alec Adamson, a transfer from Illinois, won two of three singles sets for CdM.

The Sea Kings play at Newport Harbor on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Battle of the Bay.

COSTA MESA — Jake Knapp shot one-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors in the nonleague season opener for the Eagles at Mesa Verde Country Club Tuesday.

Jake Stone (41), Cortland Lee (41), Aaron Wood (42) and Bill Crosson (45) also scored for Estancia (1-0).

The Eagles play against Millikan Thursday at El Dorado Park Golf Course.

SAN CLEMENTE — Mike Moorhead, John Davenport and Brian Mull each shot three-over-par 38 for the Sea Kings in their nonleague season opener at Talega Golf Club Tuesday.

Tanner Trauthen and Ryan Grable both shot 40 for CdM (1-0).

San Clemente’s Matt DePalma was the medalist after shooting one-over 36.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Yorba Linda 92, Estancia 53

COSTA MESA — Conner Graham and Matt Thome won an individual event each for the Eagles in their nonleague season opener Tuesday.

Graham won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.36 seconds and Thome won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.87.

Graham, Thome, Preston Schow and Asher Twardowski were victorious in the 4x50 freestyle relay in 1:41.16.
