FOUNTAIN VALLEY — The Eagles’ Jake Knapp earned medalist honors, firing a one-under-par 35 in the Orange Coast League match Wednesday at Mile Square Golf Course.

Jake Stone and Courtland Lee each shot 39 for first-place Estancia (8-0, 6-0 in league). Aaron Wood shot a 43 and Bill Crosson recorded a 47.

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Mike Moorhead was one of four Sea Kings recording two-over-par 37s on a wet and windy Wednesday, helping CdM sweep the three-way nonleague match at Newport Beach Country Club.

The other CdM golfers with 37s were Brian Mull, Chase Wheatley and Tanner Trauthen. Karick Brown finished with a 38.

The Sea Kings (9-1), winners of five straight, play Irvine in a Pacific Coast League match at Newport Beach Country Club Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

IRVINE — Michael Keasey, Hunter Molnar and Connor Canale led the Sea Kings with three goals each in a Pacifc Coast League opener Wednesday.

Casey Mix scored two goals for CdM (2-1, 1-0 in league). Keasey had four assists and Mix had three.

TUSTIN — Stephanie Storch scored two goals for the Sailors in the nonleague game Wednesday.

Madeline Storch scored one goal for Newport (2-3).

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sophomore pitcher Hattie Marshall did not allow a batter to reach base after the first inning in the Sailors’ nonleague game Wednesday.

Marshall struck out four and allowed only two hits in six innings of work.

Kendall Brennan singled and stole a base for Newport Harbor (10-2).

The Sailors play in the Aztecs Challenge championship game Friday at La Quinta at 3:15 p.m.

IRVINE — Jim Nelson had four blocks for the Eagles in the nonleague match that Northwood won, 25-16, 25-15, 25-14, Wednesday.

Estancia is 0-7.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Sophomore Kent Kawaguchi recorded 21 kills in the Lightning’s 25-22, 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 12-15 nonleague loss.

Chris Zadra and Randall Mycorn each had three service aces.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Corona del Mar 127, Northwood 43

CORONA DEL MAR — Seven different Sea Kings won an event each in the Pacific Coast League opener Wednesday at CdM.

Junior Natalie Wong took the 200-yard freestyle in two minutes, 6.14 seconds and junior Hollace Barden won the 100 free in 54.12 seconds, a CIF Division I consideration time. Junior Victoria Pierotti won the 500 free (5:44.29). Junior Pippa Saunders won the 100 breast in 1:13.30, sophomore Cassidy Papa won the 100 back in 1:05.76 and sophomore Brynne Wong won the 100 fly in 1:01.22, also a CIF consideration time.

Freshman Alexandra Namba won the 200 individual medley in 2:25.73 for CdM, which also won all three relays. Ally MCCormick, Saunders, Tori Gabert and Barden won the meet-ending 400 free relay in 3:43.22 – just two-hundredths of a second off a CIF automatic time.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Corona del Mar 127, Northwood 43

CORONA DEL MAR — CdM seniors John Kim and Matt Berry, as well as junior Jared Namba, each won two events for the Sea Kings in their Pacific Coast League opener Wednesday.

Kim took the 200-yard individual medley in 1 minute, 56.06 seconds, a CIF Division I automatic time, as well as the 500 freestyle in 4:52.19, a consideration time. Berry won the 50 free in 21.68 and the 100 free in 47.92, both CIF automatic times.

Namba won the 100 fly in 51.55 and the 100 back in 53.22, also both automatic times. Individual winners included senior Garrett Larson in the 100 breast (1:02.98, a consideration time) and sophomore Christian Garkani in the 200 free (1:48.88).

CdM also won all three relays. The 200 medley relay team of Namba, Larson, Kim and Berry touched in a CIF automatic time of 1:39.47.

Laguna Beach 112, Estancia 51

COSTA MESA — Senior Preston Schow won the 50-yard freestyle, the only individual event winner for the Eagles in their Orange Coast League-opening meet Wednesday at Estancia High.

Schow finished in 23.96 seconds for Estancia, which has a tri-meet against Godinez and Calvary Chapel on Wednesday at Santa Ana Valley High.
