IRVINE — The visiting Lightning rallied for a 25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 25-15, 15-8 win in Academy League action Monday.

Junior outside hitters Cole Kirby (19 kills, 10 digs and three aces) and Chris Zadra (16 kills, 11 digs and six blocks) helped Sage improve to 5-11, 3-1 in league.

Sophomore setter Kent Kawaguchi had 48 assists and eight kills, while senior libero Kenji Gottner had 16 digs.

CORONA DEL MAR — Sophomore Jack Ortlieb scored five goals to lead the host Sea Kings on Monday.

Juniors Michael Keasey and Hunter Molnar added two goals each. Senior Donald Dalton was a standout defensively, while junior goalie Michael Ortlieb made 10 saves.

CdM improves to 7-1, 5-0 in league.

COSTA MESA — Junior Jake Knapp was the medalist at two-under-par 33 to lead the Eagles in the Orange Coast League match Monday at Costa Mesa Country Club.

Aaron Wood and Jake Stone (both 38) also stood out for the Eagles (11-0, 9-0 in league).

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — Senior Marcus Kiel shot two-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the nonleague match Monday at Tijeras Creek Golf Club.

Carter Norris (38), Brad Papfer (38) and Zack Eddy (39) also stood out for the Tars (8-6).

COSTA MESA — Matt Thome won the 50-yard freestyle (23.77 seconds) and the 100 butterfly (one minute, 02.47 seconds) and was on two winning relays to pace the host Eagles in the nonleague meet on Monday.

Asher Twardoski won the 200 individual medley in 2:23.09 and was on two winning relays.

Preston Schow won the 100 free in 53.81 and was on two winning relays.

Connor Graham won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.00 and was on two winning relays, while Derek Andrews won the 100 backstroke in 1:09.38 and was on the winning 200 free relay.

Estancia improved to 3-6.
