CIF Southern Section Division II preliminaries
MOORPARK — Newport Harbor High’s Ethan Cochran qualified first in the discus throw with a mark of 181 feet, 7 inches to pace the Sailors on Saturday at Moorpark High.
Ryan Andrews qualifed third in the shot put (56-5), in which JB Salem qualified fifth (55-7) and Trevor Lawrence qualified ninth.
Steven Michaelsen qualified fifth in the discus (170-8).
Sailors Mark Sakioka and Fred Howser both qualified in the pole vault with a clearance of 14-3.
The CIF Southern Section finals are Saturday at Cerritos College.

CIF Division IV preliminaries
CARPENTERIA — Sage Hill senior Colton Gyulay qualified third in the triple jump (43 feet, 11 inches) and ninth in the long jump (20-81/4) to lead the Lightning Saturday at Carpenteria High.
Junior Jack Percival qualified fourth in the 800 meters, finishing in 1 minute, 56.88 seconds. Senior Luc Angel qualified in the pole vault as he was one five to clear 12-6, a new school record.
Gyulay, Percival and Angel qualified for the CIF Southern Section finals Saturday at Cerritos College.

CIF Division II preliminaries
MOORPARK — Newport Harbor High’s Allison Krugman qualified in the pole vault with a clearance of 11 feet, 3 inches Saturday at Moorpark High.
The Sailors’ Paige Tennison ran a personal best of 11 minutes, 2.49 seconds, to qualify 11th in the 3,200 meters. She is the second alternate for the CIF Southern Section finals, Saturday at Cerritos College.

CIF Division III finals
LONG BEACH — The Estancia boys’ 200-yard free relay team finished 10th in 1:34.62 at Belmont Plaza pool Saturday.
The team of Conner Graham, Derek Andrews, Matt Thome and Preston Schow entered with the 17th seed.
