Briefs: Knapp takes Toyota Cup
Jake Knapp, who will be a senior at Estancia High, won the Toyota Tour Cup in thrilling fashion at Santa Ana Country Club Tuesday.
Knapp beat Jonathan Sanders of Chatsworth on the second playoff hole to secure the championship on the Southern California Professional Golfers Assn. Junior Tour.
Knapp and Sanders both finished at 10-under-par 206 after three rounds. Sanders shot his second five-under 67 round of the tournament to set up the tie. Knapp went 67-70-69, Sanders 67-72-67.
Knapp, who has verbally committed to UCLA, collected five birdies in his final round. After a bogey on No. 14, he birdied two of the final four holes.

McBean to suit up for L.A. Galaxy
Jack McBean, a Newport Beach resident who is 16 years old, is expected to suit up for the Los Angeles Galaxy for the first time in their match against the Columbus Crew Wednesday night atHome Depot Center.
He received the news via email Tuesday. McBean recently helped lead the Galaxy Academy under-16 team to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy championship. McBean has been playing or suiting up for the team during exhibitions, but not in a Major League Soccer game.
The Galaxy are unbeaten in 12 league games. Their last league contest was nearly two weeks ago.

Breakers lose again
The Newport Beach Breakers lost their eighth straight World Team Tennis match, 21-11, at St. Louis on Tuesday night.
Anne Keothavong won the only set for the Breakers. She defeated the Aces’ Varvara Lepchenko, 5-1, in women’s singles. Every other set was either a 5-1 or 5-2 loss for the Breakers, who have been eliminated from the playoffs.
Newport Beach (3-9) plays host to Springfield at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach. The season finale is Thursday, also at home against Boston.
