COSTA MESA — Senior Brian Siemonsma and junior Kyle O’Brien had two goals apiece to lead the host Lions in the nonconference game Thursday.

Vanguard, ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll, earned its first win after opening 0-2.

Senior Jack Plummer had two assists and one goal, while William Pellow added a goal and an assist.

Vanguard posted a 41-0 edge in shots.
