Huntington Beach Pro runs through Sunday
The Huntington Beach Pro, the fourth stop on the 2011 Stand Up Paddle World Tour and first event on the U.S. mainland, is underway at the Huntington Beach Pier. The competition started Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
Among the Huntington Beach athletes in the competition are Rocky McKinnon, Patrick Loyd, Dan Kaiahua, Chuck Trout and the Hughes Brothers, Daniel and Matthew. A “Peoples Choice” expression session is Saturday, with the winner being decided by the viewing audience in votes cast on Facebook.

Fountain Valley LL registration starts Saturday
Fountain Valley Little League begins accepting online registration Saturday for its 2012 season. Information can be obtained at https://www.FVLL.org. The league’s initial in-person registration is from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 15 at the snack bar at Mile Square Park.

Youth water polo registration open
Huntington Beach Water Polo Club is taking registration for its Fall 2011 Water Polo Club Session. Sign ups are open to beginners and advanced players in the following divisions: 10-and-under coed team, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U boys’ teams, and 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U girls’ teams.

Youth hoops Winter League spots available
National Junior Basketball is accepting registration for the Huntington Beach Winter League. Player skill evaluations are Oct. 17 at the Huntington Beach High gym at the following times: 9-11 a.m. (Division 3, grades 3/4); 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Division 2, grades 5/6); 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Division 1, grades 7/8); noon-1 p.m. (make-up evaluations). Lacrosse clinics now underway
HB Blackhawks Lacrosse is offering fall clinics each Sunday through Oct. 16. The clinics are open to girls grades three through eighth and boys grades first though eighth and will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Mesa View Middle School, 17601 Avilla Lane, Huntington Beach. Clinics will focus on new or beginning players, but all experience levels are welcome. No registration required but the club is accepting a $10 donation.
Blackhawks Lacrosse also has registration open for its boys’ 5/6 and 7/8 fall 7 vs. 7 league for experienced players. League play starts Oct. 8 and runs seven consecutive weeks. Games will be played at San Joaquin Middle School in Irvine. The cost is $185 per player.

Marina baseball fundraiser is Oct. 30
The Marina High baseball program is running the Marina Baseball Golf Tournament on Oct. 30 at Meadowlark Golf Course, 16782 Graham St., Huntington Beach. The big event includes golfing, a raffle and live and silent auctions.
Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. Dinner festivities begin at 5 p.m. The cost is $125 per player (entry fee) and $40 for the dinner/auction and raffle only. Sponsorships ($500, $1,000) also are available.
