HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sophomore Natalie Cernius won all 18 of her games at No. 2 singles for the Sailors in the Sunset League match Wednesday at Marina High.

The doubles teams of Mindy Wheeler and Megan Bathen, as well as Holly Hovnanian and Kaitlyn Cosenza, each swept for Newport Harbor (10-1, 4-0 in league). Wheeler and Bathen dropped just one game, and Hovnanian and Cosenza dropped just five.

Newport Harbor, ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division II poll, plays host to Fountain Valley on Thursday.

Newport Harbor 27, Fountain Valley 2

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors had 11 different scorers in their Sunset League win Wednesday.

Farrel South (two steals) led with six goals, Preston Lee (two steals, three assists, one field block) had five goals and Dan Stevens (three steals, two assists, one field block) had four goals for Newport Harbor, ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll.

Newport Harbor plays host to No. 4 El Toro, Saturday.

Saddleback 18, Estancia 9

SANTA ANA — Estancia senior Paul Sugano-Dyson scored four goals in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday at Saddleback.

Brody Henscheid and Derek Andrews added two goals each for the Eagles (5-9, 1-2 in league).

Estancia is at the Costa Mesa tournament on Saturday, starting against Kennedy at Santa Ana Valley High at 8:50 a.m.

Sage wins on sixth player score

IRVINE — Erin Hong led the Lightning earning medalist honors for the seventh time in nine matches in the Academy League match Wednesday at Strawberry Farms Golf Course.

Hong shot even-par 36, her best score of the season. Sage Hill (7-5, 3-3 in league) secured a second-place finish in the Academy League, tied with Fairmont Prep.

Fountain Valley 198, Newport Harbor 210

COSTA MESA — Charlotte Skjonsby shot three-over-par 38 to lead the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club’s Mesa Linda course Wednesday.

Tara Hanna (40), Lauren Willard (41), Kate Lamas (43) and Ali Thomas (48) also scored for Newport Harbor (8-7, 2-4 in league).

Fountain Valley freshman Lila Vu shot 34 to earn medalist honors.
