Ortiz named to UFC Hall of Fame
Tito Ortiz, a resident of Huntington Beach who has held the longest reign as heavyweight champion in mixed martial arts, is being inducted Saturday into the Ultimate Fighting Championships Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.
Ortiz is the first UFC inductee since 2010. He will be inducted during the day Saturday at the UFC Fan Expo and then enter the final bout of his 15-year career later that night against Forrest Griffin at UFC 148 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Several locals ready for O.C. All-Star football game
The 53rd Brea Lions Orange County North-South Prep All-Star football game is Friday at Orange Coast College. Six local senior players are on the South roster. They are: quarterback Chase Favreau (Edison), offensive lineman Alex Kircher (Edison), defensive lineman Dehvon Brown (Edison), tight end and linebacker Bryce Campbell (Edison), receiver and defensive back Sean Myers (Fountain Valley), offensive lineman Jack Rulon (Huntington Beach) and Zach Hadlock (Huntington Beach).
Ocean View’s Timmy Robinson, the MVP of the Golden West league and member of the All-CIF Southern Division team, had been named to the South roster but elected not to play.

Former NFL player to host camp
Prep athletes and youth ages 7 and older can receive instruction from an NFL player starting Friday at the Antoine Cason Football Day Camp, a two-day event at Edison High. The camp is open to players ages 7 to 18 and will feature instruction Friday and Saturday for offense and defense, lectures and demonstrations by Cason, who was a defensive back in the Pac-10 Conference at Arizona and was the No. 27 overall selection by the San Diego Chargers in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Volleyball clinic offered at Golden West
Club H Volleyball will begin instruction in its inaugural summer clinics in July and August at Golden West College. Kevin Wray is clinic director and both high school and club coaches will also give instruction. Session 1 dates are: Sunday, July 15, 22, 29. Session 2 dates are: Aug. 5, 12, 19, 26.
The cost is $100 per session and $175 for both sessions. Instruction for players under 14 is from 4 and 6 p.m. Instruction for players 15 and older is from 6 to 8 p.m.

Seahawk basketball program available
Seahawk Boys’ Basketball at Ocean View High is offering a Summer Boys’ Basketball Program. The program includes practices and instruction from the Ocean View coaching staff, weekly summer league games and weekend tournaments. The tentative Monday through Thursday practice schedule is 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for incoming freshmen, and 11:30 a.m. to 1: p.m. for varsity, junior varsity and sophomore players. The program runs through July 27 and costs $285 per player.
