Newport Harbor running backs on mend
Newport Harbor High tailback Talalelei Teaupa suffered a bruised kidney and backup Chance Siemonsma a severe concussion and strained neck during the Sailors’ 35-0 road loss against Edison on Thursday, said a source familiar with the situation.
The source said Teaupa, a senior, might return next week for the Sailors’ Sunset League game against Fountain Valley and Siemonsma, a sophomore, in two to three weeks.
The injuries are the latest to rock Newport Harbor (2-4, 0-1 in league). The Sailors have been without starting quarterback Zach Wade since the senior broke his foot in the second game of the season.
