Corona del Mar High Coach Scott Meyer, who has guided the Sea Kings to two CIF section titles, has been named the coach of South team in the 54th Brea Lions Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football game.

The all-star game will take place at Orange Coast College on June 28.

Meyer is 24-4 in two seasons at CdM, where he has coached the Sea Kings to two straight CIF Southern Section Southern Division championships. The most recent title was after a 35-10 victory over Garden Grove at Angel Stadium. The Sea Kings beat Beckman for the Southern Division crown in 2011.

Katella’s Fred DiPalma will coach the North team.

Meyer was introduced as the all-star coach at a special awards dinner Monday night at the Anaheim Convention Center. He was also named a Coach of the Year, along with Edison’s Dave White, by the National Football Foundation’s Orange County Chapter.

Meyer has been an assistant coach in all-star competition before, as he worked on a staff four times for the 605 All-Star Game that features players from the 24 high schools that border the 605 freeway. The county game will be Meyer’s first all-star event as head coach.

Meyer, 48 and the father of three sons ages 4, 14 and 17, is an alumnus of Long Beach Wilson. From there he went on to Long Beach City College and played football there. He walked on as a defensive back at University of Arizona.

Meyer was a second-stringer at Arizona, where he earned a degree in economics.
