LA MIRADA — Bryce Arroyo went three for five with two runs batted in for the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Friday.
Adonis Tountas went two for five with two RBIs for Vanguard 9-8, 4-8 in conference.
Biola is 13-10, 5-8.

Portland 2, UC Irvine 0
IRVINE — The Pilots scored two runs on Anteaters’ starter Andrew Thurman in the first inning and held on for the nonconference win Friday.
Thurman (1-1) struck out for and allowed five hits in 6 2/3 innings.
UCI (7-2) matched Portland (3-7) with five hits, as Ronnie Shaeffer led the Anteaters with two hits.
Pilots pitcher Travis Radke (1-1) earned the win with 11 strikeouts, allowing three hits in 6 2/3 shutout innings.
The four-game series continues with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.

Golden West def. Orange Coast
COSTA MESA — Cody Martin had 15 kills and Johannes Brink added 14 kills for the Pirates, but the Rustlers won the Pacific Coast Conferenc match, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 26-24, Friday night.
Austin Bagby had 11 kills, Brendan Duff had 45 assists and Scott Enos had eight digs for OCC (5-3, 1-1 in conference).
Golden West is 5-2, 1-0.
The Pirates will return to action on Friday at San Diego City College, beginning at 6 p.m.

Doubleheader
COSTA MESA — Vanguard swept the nonconference doubleheader with a 7-2 win in the first game and an 8-1 victory in the nightcap Friday.
Brittney Boggs went a combined four for six with four runs batted in for the Lions (11-10).
Gabrielle Jackson had three RBIs and Shelby Kuryllo had two RBIs in the nightcap.
Andriana Venezia was one for two with two RBIs in the first game.
Brittany Colenzo got the win in the first game with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. She allowed one earned run on six hits.
Alexandra Olvera earned the complete-game win in the nightcap. She struck out one, walked one and allowed one run on six hits.

Saddleback 5, Orange Coast 4
COSTA MESA — Andrew Pham won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1, for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Friday.
Chad Meyer won at No. 4 singles, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 for OCC (5-5, 2-2 in conference), while Pham and Dillon Nguyen won at No. 3 doubles, 9-8.
