Boys’ soccer: Harbor’s Tamplin Sunset League Most Outstanding Offensive Player
Newport Harbor High senior striker True Tamplin was named the All-Sunset League Most Outstanding Offensive Player in boys’ soccer after he produced 15 goals and the Sailors finished with a share of third place in league.
Tamplin led the Sailors (13-9-4, 4-4-2 in league) to their first CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoff win since the 2008-09 season. They made the postseason as an at-large team.
Newport Harbor senior striker David Muñoz and senior defender Cesar Calderon-Orozco each made the first team.
The Sailors’ second-team selections were sophomore midfielder Alan Alcantara, junior midfielder Henry Ramirez and senior goalkeeper Osiel Porcayo.
The Sunset League MVP went to Los Alamitos’ Daniel Weis.
