Briefs: Football camp coming to Edison
The Get Skillz Football Camp for youth grades K through eighth is Sunday at Edison High.
The camp is run by Edison senior Elijah Herrera (All-Sunset League, All-CIF) and other Charger players from the school’s 2012 CIF Southern Section Southwest Division championship football team and will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the school’s front field. Agility, seven-on-seven and one-on-one drills, and a punt, pass and kick competition, will be offered. A $15 donation per camper is requested with all proceeds benefiting the David Bolda Football Scholarship Memorial Fund. The fund will support a Pop Warner Football student-athlete by offering a scholarship toward assistance in paying Pop Warner registration fees.

It is one of 28 Jr. All-American Football organizations located in Orange, Los Angeles and Riverside counties that are members of Orange County Junior All-American Football (OCJAAF).

Edison poker tournament fundraiser
Edison High will hold its second Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament, a fundraiser to benefit the school’s athletic department, on May 4 at the Huntington Beach Elks Lodge (7711 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach).
The event includes food, prizes and a silent auction. Registration can be found at https://www.ehspoker.com. Registration also will be accepted at the door starting at 5 p.m. the day of the event and first hand will be drawn at 6 p.m. The tournament is limited to 250 people and participants must be 21 years of age.

Camp taking place at Marina
A Youth Strength and Speed Camp is underway at Marina High. Camp sessions are from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. every Monday through Thursday at the school’s track until June 6.
The sessions are open to youth in grades sixth through eighth and are geared to prep athletes to compete on the track, field or court.
Sessions will focus on speed development and mobility through strength, power, explosiveness, technique, safety, change of direction and sprinting mechanics, conditioning, injury prevention, leadership and character and work ethic development.
The cost is $5 per session and one-on-one sessions are available.
Youth will be coached by George Pascoe (Marina varsity football head coach), Andrew Bonsall (Marina freshman football head coach), and Turill Engleman (Marina varsity football speed and strength coach).
