Women’s Basketball: UCI’s Buckley honored

UC Irvine senior Camille Buckley was recently named Big West Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball.

Buckley, a 6-foot-1 forward, led the Anteaters with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds in a season-opening victory against South Dakota on Nov. 10. She also recorded two steals in 27 minutes.

Buckley, a first-team All-Big West honoree as a junior, drained two key free throws with 1:29 remaining to put the Anteaters up by six in an eventual 68-64 victory. It was UCI’s first win in a season opener since 2002.
