Costa Mesa 61, Crean Lutheran 40
The Mustangs began their season opener with a 21-2 run in the first quarter en route to the win Tuesday night at Costa Mesa High.
Jacqueline Guerrero led Costa Mesa (1-0) with 17 points, while Olivia Oritz and Alexa Loredo added seven points each. Sheena Reskey and Ebelin Roman scored six points each for Costa Mesa.

Newport Harbor 40, Laguna Beach 31
Jennifer Lopez scored 17 points to lead the Sailors in their season opener at Newport Harbor Tuesday night.
McKenna Izzi added eight points and Bela Raimondi scored seven points for Newport Harbor (1-0).
Kendra Munguia had six rebounds and three blocks, while Raimondi recorded three steals.

Aliso Niguel 14, Costa Mesa 9
Junior Lauren Smith had eight goals, nine steals and three field blocks for the Mustangs in their season opener Tuesday at home.
Senior Jenesa Ramirez also scored for the Mustangs, and junior Melissa Folkerts had three assists and drew two ejections.
Costa Mesa plays host to St. Joseph’s of Lakewood on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.
