Police arrest man with Taser

Costa Mesa police arrested a Corona del Mar man for holding a live Taser when a hotel manager came to his room to inquire about an argument he had with another guest, authorities said Wednesday.

At the Regency Inn on Newport Boulevard, Cody Valentine Bish, 30, was allegedly arguing around 11:50 a.m. Monday with a woman who was also staying there, said Costa Mesa police Lt. Mark Manley.

After the argument, the woman went to talk with a hotel manager.

The manager then approached Bish, who was allegedly found holding a Taser in “spark mode” — meaning it was turned on, with the electric current visible, Manley said.

Brandishing a Taser for that purpose is a felony, Manley said.

Police do not believe Bish made physical contact with the manager or the woman.

Bish’s relationship with the woman, if any, was unclear.

As of Tuesday evening Bish remained in jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
