Pet of the Week: Ginger and Tucker

These spirited dogs were sadly surrendered by their owner at another shelter last month. Their time was up there, and the Newport Beach Animal Shelter was asked to help them.

Ginger, a Chihuahua mix, is the more outgoing of the pair; Tucker is shyer and a terrier mix. Both are about 2 years old and weigh 12 to 16 pounds, and both are healthy, spayed or neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines.

While some Chihuahuas are known for acting like big dogs in little bodies, this description does not apply to Ginger. The two share a kennel, and it would be wonderful if they found a home together. However, they can be separated if necessary. Ginger and Tucker are friendly toward people and well-behaved on walks.

Ginger and Tucker can be seen at Newport Beach’s new animal shelter, at 20302 Riverside Drive. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and by appointment Sundays.
