Pets of the Week: Leo and Layla

Leo and Layla would like nothing more than a home for the holidays.

Both of these pups are being cared for at Home Free Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Newport Beach. One had been scheduled for euthanization, and the other was surrendered by his former owner because of personal issues.

Leo, a 2-year-old pit bull, is very friendly with people and seems to get along well with other dogs. He is great on the leash and loves to explore the yard by himself. This sweet boy also is content curling up and napping at someone’s feet. Leo would make a great companion for an active individual or family.

Layla, a 15-pound chihuahua and pit bull mix, is about 7 months old. She’s frisky and friendly with people and other dogs and loves to play with her toys. Layla walks well on the leash, knows simple commands and would enjoy the challenge of higher-level training. She is interested and engaged in life and would thrive in a warm, active environment.

Both Leo and Layla are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Home Free rescues dogs from high-kill shelters and abusive and neglectful situations and provides a temporary sanctuary while permanent, loving homes are found. The nonprofit also contracts with the city of Newport Beach to provide animal shelter services.
