Berrien H. Findlay (Bill), 83, of Newport Beach, California, died on Saturday, May 28th at Denver Hospice from complications of a stroke suffered a few days earlier. Bill was born in Long Beach on June 4, 1927. He served with the US Navy from 1945 – 1947. Bill was a graduate of Stanford University and USC Law School where he graduated first in his class and was editor of the Law Review. Bill was an active attorney in San Bernardino for over 35 years, a member of the local planning commission and a member of the California Bar. He lived for over 20 years in Waterman Canyon north of San Bernardino and for the last 20 years on the oceanfront in Newport Beach.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in Newport Beach, California later on June 18th at his former residence. He had become an institution in Newport Beach where many simply knew him as the “The Reader.” He spent hours in deep political and philosophical discussions with his numerous friends and neighbors and he will be sorely missed.
