John Wayne Airport offers Fourth of July weekend travel tips

This Fourth of July weekend figures to be one of John Wayne Airport’s busiest times of the year, with more than 145,000 passengers expected to pass through Friday through Tuesday, a 10% increase over last year’s holiday.

Airport officials have some tips for visitors:

  • Consider all available parking options. The airport has terminal-adjacent parking structures A1, A2, B2 and C ($2 per hour and $20 per day), as well as curbside valet parking service ($30 per day) and the offsite parking lot at 1512 Main St. ($14 per day), which offers free shuttles to the terminal. Call (949) 252-5200 to find out about parking availability.

  • Arrive 90 minutes to two hours before your scheduled departure time for domestic flights and three hours for international flights to allow time to find parking, check luggage and go through security screening.

  • Passengers are allowed one small carry-on bag plus one personal item.

  • If picking up passengers at the airport, use the Cell Phone Waiting Lot or the two-hour parking spaces on the lower level of parking structures A1, B2 and C.

  • Report any suspicious objects or activities to an airport employee or a uniformed officer or by using a white courtesy phone.
