Biz News: Photo studio moving to Corona del Mar

Classic Kids Photography is relocating its studio from Balboa Island to Corona del Mar.

“Classic Kids Photography has been a longtime staple in the Newport Beach community,” Easther Liu, chief marketing officer for Irvine Co. Retail Properties, said in a statement. “We are excited to be a part of their new Orange County location and provide their team and loyal following with a new O.C. studio space.”

The studio will be at 924 Avocado Ave., next to Diane’s Beachwear in Corona del Mar Plaza.

Pimco names executive to London-based role

Newport Beach-based Pacific Investment Management Co. announced that Craig Dawson has been appointed to oversee the firm’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

He replaces Bill Benz, who plans to retire this summer after 30 years with the company.

Dawson, who joined Pimco in 1999, previously headed its business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy and product management for Europe. He will be moving to London for his new position.

Bixby Land Co. buys two buildings near Seattle

Bixby Land Co., based in Newport Beach, recently purchased two new industrial buildings in the Seattle area for $12.4 million, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The buildings are a 34,435-square-foot facility in Auburn and a 63,768-square-foot building in Sumner. Both were previously owned by Panattoni Development Co., also based in Newport Beach.

The business journal reported that Bixby is making the Seattle area a “major focus” and is looking to buy more assets there.

Insight Investments appoints new executive

Insight Investments LLC, based in Costa Mesa, has appointed Jennifer Kennedy as an executive who will work on the company’s vendor financing initiative, according to a news release.

She will be “driving new program relationships with technology manufacturers, systems integrators and managed service providers,” company officials said in the release.

Vein Clinic in Costa Mesa to celebrate grand opening

Vein Clinic CA has scheduled a grand-opening event for its Costa Mesa location Feb. 18.

The clinic, at 1712 Newport Blvd., offers removal of spider and varicose veins, plus Botox and other services, including a treatment that freezes fat cells. It opened late last year.

Business disaster prep classes set in Costa Mesa

The South Coast Metro Alliance and Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce will present business disaster preparedness classes in collaboration with National University and the Costa Mesa Fire Department.

The free classes will start Feb. 18 and last through May at National University, 3390 Harbor Blvd.

Newport dentistry office has new ownership

A dentistry practice in Newport Beach is under new ownership.

The office formerly run by Dr. James Vogel, who has retired, is now owned by Dr. Dana Rockey.

Rockey comes to Newport Beach after selling his practice in Rancho Santa Margarita.

The Newport office is at 355 Placentia Ave., Suite 306.

PR firm to share office with Costa Mesa company

IMW, a Costa Mesa-based marketing communications firm, is now the West Coast home office for CGPR, a public relations firm.

The shared office is at 3190 Airport Loop Drive, Building K.

CGPR also will maintain its original location in Marblehead, Mass.

“Both agencies view the alliance as a new business opportunity allowing them to leverage each other’s skill sets and capabilities,” the companies said in a statement.
