Costa Mesa hosts UVSA Tet Festival this weekend

The 35th annual UVSA Tet Festival will celebrate the Vietnamese Year of the Monkey from Friday to Sunday at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

The event, billed as the largest Lunar New Year festival in the world, will feature traditional foods, contests, live entertainment, cultural displays, games and a firecracker show.

Hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday at 88 Fair Drive.

Admission is $6 ($5 online) per day and $13 online for all three days.

Children 2 and younger are admitted free.

UVSA is a Garden Grove-based nonpro¿t founded in 1982. The Tet Festival helps develop volunteerism among Vietnamese American students from area colleges and high schools as they contribute to the festival’s planning and organization, according to UVSA.

During the past 15 years, UVSA’s members have awarded more than $1.25 million in festival proceeds as grants to nonpro¿ts across Southern California, the group says.
