Orange County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Wednesday afternoon in Huntington Beach after a pursuit through at least five cities, including Newport Beach.

The suspect, Michael-Claud Jordan Salas, 23, of Lake Forest was taken into custody on Pacific Coast Highway near Beach Boulevard about 4 p.m.

The chase began in Lake Forest when deputies tried to pull over a pickup about 3:15 p.m. after it drove through the scene of an injury traffic collision that was being investigated, according to sheriff’s Lt. Mark Stichter.

The pickup took off, Stichter said, and authorities pursued it through Lake Forest, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach and, finally, Huntington Beach.

At times, the truck traveled on the wrong side of the road and at a high speed, Stichter said.

Salas was arrested on suspicion of felony evading arrest and reckless driving, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
