Biz News: Costa Mesa driver named to UPS Circle of Honor

UPS driver Nelson Negrillo of Costa Mesa was recently inducted into the parcel delivery service’s Circle of Honor, according to a news release.

Negrillo was recognized for 25 years of accident-free driving. He was one of 176 drivers in California to achieve the recognition. UPS has 11,915 drivers in California.

“My thanks go to all of them for their dedication and focus,” George Willis, president of UPS’ West region, said in a statement. “Their attention to detail has kept them safe and has helped improve public safety.”

Papa Murphy’s coming to Costa Mesa

Papa Murphy’s is bringing its “take ‘n’ bake” pizza to Costa Mesa with a grand opening Thursday through March 13.

On March 12, the first 100 customers at the new location at 2300 Harbor Blvd. will receive a free large pepperoni pizza. Doors will open at 11 a.m.

Former El Pollo Loco executive joins Del Taco

A former executive at Costa Mesa-based El Pollo Loco has been appointed to a new position at Del Taco Restaurants, based in Lake Forest, according to a news release.

Jeff Little was named Del Taco’s senior vice president of development. He had been El Pollo Loco’s vice president of development, where he oversaw real estate, franchise sales, construction and project designs, according to Del Taco.

“Del Taco is a strong brand that is poised to capitalize on national growth opportunities,” Little said in a statement. “I’m excited to partner my background and expertise with this proven team.”

SOCO to host Spring Fling and Uncorked

South Coast Collection in Costa Mesa will host two events in March.

Its fifth annual Spring Fling will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 20, featuring the Easter bunny, a petting zoo, an egg hunt, a photo booth, face painting and crafts.

RSVP for the event at EventBrite.com by searching for “SOCO Spring Fling.” Admission is free.

SOCO Uncorked, a food and wine festival, is set for March 31. About 20 tenants of the commercial center will participate alongside 35 wineries.

Rutan & Tucker names managing partner

Layne Melzer has been chosen managing partner of Rutan & Tucker, a Costa Mesa-based law firm, according to a news release.

Melzer, a business litigator, started at the firm in 1988.

Kurt Real Estate founder joins Berkshire Hathaway office in Newport

Costa Mesa-based real estate agent Kurt Galitski, who ran his own company, Kurt Real Estate Group, for 13 years, has joined the Newport Beach office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.

“After 13 years of founding and running a successful boutique real estate office in Costa Mesa as a licensed broker, his passion has always been in real estate sales and it shows,” Berkshire Hathaway branch manager Scott MacDonald said in a statement. “He and his group will be a great addition to our office.”
