Easter Bunny leaves auditory clues for egg hunters

At first glance, the brightly colored eggs laid out Thursday morning at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort looked like any other that one might find at a springtime hunt.

However, these eggs were equipped with a special beeper to provide about 30 visually impaired children with auditory clues to aid their search.

The Newport Beach resort has partnered for about 15 years with the Santa Ana-based Blind Children’s Learning Center to give visually impaired kids a chance to experience the tradition of hunting for Easter eggs.

The 3- to 6-year-olds at Thursday’s pre-Easter celebration also decorated baskets, played with live bunnies and visited with the Easter Bunny.
