CdM town hall meeting to focus on traffic, parking and increasing toll road use

An expert panel will discuss proposed plans to improve traffic and parking and increase toll road use Wednesday at Corona del Mar’s annual town hall meeting.

The forum brings together CdM residents, businesses and Newport Beach city officials to discuss issues, projects and other items that directly impact the village.

The meeting is co-hosted by the Corona del Mar Residents Assn. and the Corona del Mar Business Improvement District. This year’s meeting theme: “Corona del Mar on the Move — People, Cars, and Bikes Living Together.”

The event begins with a community expo, where city officials and community organizations will answer questions about citywide issues, including coyote management and the drought.

The speaker’s program will focus on exploring traffic alternatives to East Coast Highway, including a bypass on San Joaquin Hills Road and the 73 Toll Road. Officials will also discuss parking.

Newport Beach traffic engineers Brad Sommers and Tony Brine, Councilmen Ed Selich and Scott Peotter, Public Works Director Dave Webb, Community Development Director Kim Brandt, Newport Beach Police DepartmentLt. Tom Fischbacher and Transportation Corridor Authority CEO Mike Kraman will be on the speaker’s program panel.

The town meeting begins at 5 p.m. with the expo. The speaker’s program starts at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 7:30 p.m. The event takes place at Sherman Library & Gardens, 2647 East Coast Highway.
