Newport Boat Show is a showcase for all things sailing

Boating enthusiasts lined the docks in Lido Marina Village on Thursday afternoon to check out the latest sailing technology and luxury yacht design during the first day of the Newport Boat Show.

The 43rd annual four-day event, which runs through Sunday, showcases more than 200 pleasure boats, including new models and ocean-tested yachts with various amenities. Some attendees perused, on the hunt for their next big purchase, while others milled around looking at ways to enhance their own vessels.

Show organizer Duncan McIntosh kept busy running around Thursday afternoon to make sure the event got off to a smooth start.

“I’m still trying to catch my breath,” he said. “We have a really good flow of people coming in now.”
