Torelli Realty hosted its annual Pumpkin Patch event at its Costa Mesa office on Thursday night.

Children and families came to the office at Mesa Verde Drive East and Adams Avenue for pony rides, a pie-eating contest, obstacle course bounce house, face painting and pumpkin decorating.

According to Torelli Realty’s website, the Pumpkin Patch event has its roots in 1984, when pumpkins were distributed, door to door, to more than 3,000 homes in Mesa Verde. That practice continued until 2004, when instead of spending money on squash, the business donated to local schools.

A PTA president then suggested Torelli having a neighborhood event at its Mesa Verde office, where the Pumpkin Patch has taken place ever since.
