700 Marines help salute veterans at Newport Dunes soiree

About 700 members of the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, all in their dress blues, helped pay tribute to veterans at a pre-Veterans Day party Tuesday night at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in Newport Beach.

The event, presented by the Newport Beach 1st Battalion 1st Marines Foundation, also celebrated the 240th anniversary of the Marine Corps.

The 1/1, an infantry battalion based at Camp Pendleton, was “adopted” by the city of Newport Beach in 2003.
