Man arrested in connection with bank robberies in Laguna, Seal Beach

The FBI has arrested a Beverly Hills man suspected of robbing banks in Laguna Beach and Seal Beach, according to Laguna Beach police.

FBI agents arrested Kyle Jason Korte, 36, in Ventura County on Thursday in connection with several robberies.

Police said Korte is suspected of robbing banks in Laguna and Seal Beach on Oct. 27.

In Laguna, officers responded to Union Bank at 229 Broadway St. after receiving a report from an employee that the bank had just been robbed, police said.

The employee said the robber, wearing a mask, pointed a handgun at a teller while demanding money, police said.

After being provided with an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber fled toward Broadway.

About an hour later, police said, a Chase Bank branch on Pacific Coast Highway in Seal Beach was robbed.

Laguna Beach police said they had video footage of the robber leaving the area and provided information to Seal Beach police and the FBI’s bank robbery task force.
