Police cited or arrested 10 drivers at a DUI checkpoint Friday night in Costa Mesa, according to authorities.

Costa Mesa police and the California Highway Patrol said they funneled more than 3,000 cars through the checkpoint on northbound Harbor Boulevard at Flower Street from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police said they stopped 18 of those cars to perform sobriety tests on the drivers and ultimately arrested four people on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Six other drivers were cited or arrested on suspicion of driving without a valid license, police said.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, administered through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, police said.
