Laguna Beach’s public transportation services will see some adjustments during the final week of the year, though trash pickup times will remain unaffected by the holidays.

The city’s buses and trolleys will not run on either Christmas Day or New Year’s Day and will have modified hours on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, according to a city news release.

The adjusted hours for buses and neighborhood trolleys on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 will be 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., compared with the usual 6:50 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. schedule.

Neighborhood trolleys currently serve the Arch Beach Heights, Bluebird Canyon and Top of the World areas Monday through Saturday.

This service is separate from the off-season trolley service that runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays along North and South Coast Highway from Labor Day through the third week of June. Trolleys typically operate from 9:50 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays, but on Dec. 31 the city will extend those hours until 1 a.m. in anticipation of New Year’s Eve revelers.

During the summer, trolleys run daily on North and South Coast Highway and along Laguna Canyon Road, taking visitors to the city’s acclaimed art festivals.

Meanwhile, residents and business owners will not see any delays in their trash pickup schedule during the holidays.

Waste Management will collect and recycle Christmas trees on the regular collection days at no extra charge from Dec. 26 through Jan. 13.

Trees must be cut to lengths less than 4 feet, and all decorations, tinsel and metal stands must be removed.
