Biz News: Mother’s Market to host blood drive Thursday

Mother’s Market & Kitchen in Costa Mesa will partner with Hoag Blood Donor Services to hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in the store’s parking lot at 1890 Newport Blvd.

All donors will receive a coupon for a free 8-ounce drink from the Mother’s Market juice bar.

Blood donations will go to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach.

Hoag recognized as one of California’s best hospitals

Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the sixth-best hospital in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and tied for 11th best in the state.

“We are honored to be ... included in the rankings with the top healthcare institutions across the country,” Robert Braithwaite, Hoag’s president and chief excutive, said in a statement.

U.S. News has done hospital rankings for 27 years.
