South Coast Plaza’s exhibit on former President Richard Nixon, called “The Week That Changed the World: Nixon, China and the Arts,” has been extended to Thursday due to popular demand. The exhibit had been slated to close Aug. 18.

The exhibit celebrates significant arts and cultural developments resulting from Nixon’s historic 1972 trip to China, according to a news release. An estimated 1 million people have visited the exhibition since it opened June 24.

“We are overwhelmed with the success of the display,” said Bill Baribault, president of the Richard Nixon Foundation. “The Richard Nixon Foundation is very pleased that even more visitors will now have the ability to learn of the ongoing impact of President Nixon’s trip to China.”
