Witnesses reported seeing a car flee south down Whittier Avenue, said Costa Mesa police Sgt. Dan Miles.

When police checked the surrounding area, they found a gray Mercedes-Benz on West 18th Street that had front-end side damage consistent with a crash, Miles said.

When police pulled the car over they noticed that the driver, Aya Ibish, 22, of Laguna Beach displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol, Miles said.

She was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and felony hit-and-run, Miles said.
