Beach Party welcomes summer at Newport Dunes

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort kicked off summer festivities on Saturday with a Beach Party that continues through Sunday.

Guests listened to live music and tried beer and wine from various local purveyors. More than 30 professional barbecue teams competed to see who could grill up the tastiest summer fare.

Party time on Sunday is noon to 6 p.m., with a community carnival, a band competition and beach games.
