A Huntington Beach man was arrested on suspicion of stealing clothes from a retail store last week and items from a car a few days later, authorities said.

Police responded to the area of Bushard Street and Gateshead Drive at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday after a witness reported a theft, police said.

The witness chased the thief after seeing him steal a gas can and other items from a car, police said.

Officers arrested a suspect, identified as Crispin Henny, 19.

According to police, Henny told them he was responsible for the theft from the car and for stealing hundreds of dollars worth of clothes from a Tilly’s store on Nov. 9.

Henny was released with a misdemeanor citation in connection with Saturday’s theft, police spokeswoman Jennifer Marlatt said Tuesday.

Police sent the Tilly’s case to the Orange County district attorney’s office with a request for charges against Henny, Manzella said.
