Newport Beach police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man believed to have stolen sunglasses, jewelry and a wireless surveillance camera from a parked car.

A man parked his car in front of his home in the 1600 block of Cornwall Lane on Nov. 28 and the next morning noticed that several items were missing, said Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella.

There were no signs of forced entry, and it’s possible the vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft, Manzella said. The value of the items was estimated at $1,225, she said.

A surveillance camera that was stolen from the car was on at the time and fed images of the man believed to be the thief to the owner’s security account, according to Manzella.

The man is white, age 35 to 40, with short blond or light brown hair.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Det. Jon Jarema at (949) 644-3761 or jjarema@nbpd.org.
