UCI students pitch in for homeless and hungry
UC Irvine’s Anteaters are lending a helping hand for those less fortunate during the school’s Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week.
Students at the Student Center Terrace rolled up their sleeves Tuesday to assemble care packages to give to Build Futures, a Huntington Beach-based organization dedicated to giving homeless adults ages 18 to 24 stable homes and resources to obtain jobs.
Throughout the week, the terrace will accept donations of toiletries, nonperishable food items and gently used clothing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
The week also will include a screening of the documentary “A Place at the Table,” which focuses on nutrition in America, on Wednesday evening at the Crystal Cove Auditorium and sandwich-making for the hungry and homeless Thursday at the Cross-Cultural Center.
