O.C. treasurer to speak at Wake Up Newport on Thursday

Orange County Treasurer Shari Freidenrich is expected to discuss the state of the county’s finances during Thursday’s Wake Up Newport forum.

Freidenrich was elected treasurer in 2010 and reelected in 2014. She is responsible for collecting property taxes and overseeing an $8-billion investment portfolio comprising about $4 billion in county funds and $4 billion in school district funds.

She also is a member of the Orange County Pension Board, which manages the $12-billion county pension plan.

Wake Up Newport, presented by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 7:15 a.m. in the Friends Room of the Newport Beach Public Library, 1000 Avocado Ave.
