Fashion Island’s Christmas tree expected to arrive Tuesday morning

Fashion Island’s 90-foot Christmas tree will complete its journey from Mount Shasta when it arrives about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Newport Beach mall.

A crew is expected to need about three hours to hoist the white fir into place with a crane at the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale’s courtyard. During the next two weeks, workers will add branches to fill in any sparse areas on the tree.

More than 20,000 lights and red, silver and gold ornaments will be put on the tree to get it ready for the annual tree lighting ceremonies at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19.
