MEN’S BASKETBALL

Vanguard 69, Menlo 46

Zach Allmon had 19 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and three steals to lead the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game on Thursday.

Malachi Hoosein added 17 points and Brandon Brothers scored 12 points for Vanguard (11-2, 1-1 in conference).

Menlo is 7-9, 1-2.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Vanguard 72, Menlo College 69

Senior Melissa Norman produced 18 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in the Lions’ Golden State Athletic Conference game at home on Thursday.

Maya Kennedy had 14 points and Hannah Tabron chipped in 12 points for Vanguard (8-3, 1-1 in conference).

The Lions play at home against William Jessup University on Saturday at 2 p.m.

UC Riverside 93, UC Irvine 69

RIVERSIDE — Forward Mckenzie Piper finished with a career-high 17 points in the Anteaters’ Big West Conference season opener on Thursday.

Mokun Fajemisin contributed 12 points for UCI (3-12, 0-1 in conference), while Raelyn Cheung-Sutton added nine points and nine assists.

The Anteaters play host to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Saturday at 2 p.m.
