Orange Coast 62, Riverside 56

RIVERSIDE — Freshman point guard Chyann Pendergrass had 18 points and 11 assists to lead the visiting Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

The win lifts OCC (13-8, 4-1 in conference) into sole possession of first place, one-half game ahead of Cypress (3-1 in conference), which was idle Wednesday.

Pendergrass made six of eight three-point attempts to pace four Pirates who scored in double figures.

Sarah Nunes had 17 points, hitting seven of 10 field-goal tries, while Sami Little had 12 points and seven rebounds and Jenna Rodriguez had 10 points and seven boards.

OCC was nine for 20 from three-point range to survive a 52-34 rebounding deficit.

Riverside (13-8, 3-2) had 20 turnovers to fall out of a three-way tie for first.

Riverside 84, Orange Coast 60

RIVERSIDE — Sophomore Jamaal Lee led the visiting Pirates with 13 points in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

OCC fell to 8-11, 2-3 in conference, while RCC is now 10-11, 2-3.
